Tommie Casserley

 

Tommie who hails from Elphin, County Roscommon is married to Margaret (nee Mcloughlin ) Lisacul, Ballaghdereen. Tommie came to Manchester in the early 60s and worked as a plastering contractor until his retirement. Tommie drummed with many bands back in Ireland and has always had a love of music playing ,singing and composing.

His most successful song to date has been The Cottage on the Hill, recorded by quite a few artists including Sheamus Moore & Margaret Mccormack . He has penned many pieces over the years mainly for pleasure but has been asked by people and many of the associations to write for their special occasions.

Tommie first got involved with the Irish Festival Radio back in the mid nineties when he hosted a show with Margaret called The Casserley's - Down memory lane.

Tommie says "i have enjoyed writing for years and its nice that so many people enjoy the pieces Ido for the show and I hope it will be many more years till the pen runs dry".
